WIRRIMBIRRA WHITE WARATAH    OIL ON BELGIAN LINEN

It goes back to when I was a small child.    I started drawing horses and wishing and dreaming for my very own pony.    Alas, this never came to pass, but looking back, I cannot remember a time when I have not wanted to paint and draw, so now that my children have families of their own and the hectic work and family years have passed for me,  I have plenty of time to devote to my passion for art.

Flowers and animals have been my choice of subject matter for some time now.   I love the light effects on the petals of the flowers.  Their colour, variety and beautiful flowing shapes and shadows provide endless inspiration.   Taking the closer view helps me (and I hope the viewer) to appreciate their beauty even more and their fragile details will never cease to enthrall me.

My animals and birds are viewed with some whimsy, their personality shows in their eyes and on their faces, they are sometimes mischievous, sometimes savage, but somehow always appealing.
