Having always been passionate about painting and drawing, from my earliest recollections, I studied art with Lionel Tapprell, and the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. This was followed by 3 years full time at College.
Since my retirement I have worked almost full time painting and still teach one day a week.
My work hangs in private and Public collections both in Australia and Internationally. I have been fortunate to win numerous art awards both aquisitive and non aquistive.
Some of these include:
I enjoy working in all mediums, oil, watercolour, acrylic, both chalk and oil pastels, charcoal as well as pen and ink. The challenge of working in a variety of mediums to depict various subjects I find is very rewarding.
Flora and Fauna have been my choice of subject for sometime now, I enjoy creating the light effects on the petals of flowers, their colour, variety and lovely flowing shapes and shadows provide endless inspiration.
Taking the closer view helps me (and I hope the viewer) to appreciate their wonder even more. The fragile details will never cease to enthral me.
I love to depict my animals in a whimsical manner. Each has a personality which shows on the face and in their eyes, which tells a story sometimes mischievous, sometimes savage, whilst others are just plain comical.
My works is presently on display at:
The Woodworks Gallery, Bungendore NSW Australia.
The JD Gallery, Kangaroo Valley NSW Australia.
